At that time, Croatia were slowly fading away, while England were a little young and were still improving. Now, England have more experience, players in their prime and even more youngsters who are being allowed to shine. It is easy to see why England are amongst the tournament favourites, and we think they can start things well by winning this group.
Although we have covered how many teams that look likely to make it to the latter stages of the competition, we would like to now take a moment to cover some of the underdogs. After all, if you are considering betting on the event, these are the teams where you might find some highly enticing odds for them to ultimately lift the trophy.
The Netherlands is also listed as favorites, but their offense isn’t as potent. They were on the final of the Nations League under their new coach Ronald Koeman and had many potentials. They lack a bona fide striker, and that may not be enough at the Euro 2021.
Many people think that Portugal is just a one-man team, with the outcome of their games being completely dependent on how Cristiano Ronaldo performs. Since Portugal managed to win the last Euro Championships, however, and the fact that they did this without their star man, this reputation was completely turned on its head. Ronaldo and indeed Portugal managed to prove that they could come together as a team and do great things, which was why they managed to win the last tournament.
Some would say that Spain has lost its way in international football in recent years. But nevertheless, Spain is still a team with some very talented individuals, and they are capable of playing rapid football that can regularly lead to goals. Players such as Sergio Ramos will no doubt bring plenty of experience to the team for the tournament, but there are also players such as Rodrigo and Rodri to look out for as well.
Italy is a country that has always had quality players. Their coach has significantly lowered the average age of the squad, but we can’t say if that will be advantageous next summer. We think the Italy team will get high in the rankings, but we doubt that they would get to the top four.
Italy used to be powerhouses of international football, but this is not really the case these days. They have regularly underperformed at major competitions such as the Euros and the World Cup, however, Italy is still a nation where football is almost a religion. Much like the German squad mentioned earlier, Italy managed to lose a load of talented players many years ago, but now they have plenty of young guns coming through.
Croatia are the clear second best, and they are expected to beat both Scotland and Czech Republic to finish second behind England. The final spot will be determined by the Czech Republic national team, who on their day will have a little too much class for Scotland and can prevail. However, this is an unpredictable team we are talking about, so Scotland may fancy their chances of causing them problems if the Czechs are not on their game.
Spain national football team are the standout team in Group E and look to have a great chance of going through the group stage by winning all three of their games. This isn’t perhaps the vintage Spanish team we have seen over the past couple of decades, but they should be more than good enough to come out of this group on top.
In behind Spain, an intriguing battle looks set to take place. Slovakia football team cannot be discounted easily, and have the ability to cause a shock, though Poland national team and Sweden national football team are likely to be the two teams who are fighting out for this.
There is little to choose between them, but with Robert Lewandowski in attack for Poland, that swings the balance in their favour. Assuming that Spain wins this group as we expect, the game between Sweden and Poland could well be one of the biggest from any group, with second place on the line and we think Poland will take it.
Group F Euro 2021 is certainly the group of death, and although the three big teams are likely to get enough points to make it through into the knockout phase, what order they finish in is tough to work out. Of the three big nations here, we give a slight edge to France, who have a team that is at the peak of their form right now and come here after success at the 2018 World Cup. If you want success betting asian handicaps, you need to know best asian bookies 2021.
Portugal national team have also had recent success, winning Euro 2016 and beating France in the final, but many of their better players are coming towards the end of their careers. They are good enough to take this country far, but perhaps not good enough to beat the elite.
Germany national football team are in transition right now, they have had huge success not too long ago, but are currently bedding in many new and young players into their national team line up. They will no doubt come good again but may need another year or two before they start to show that.
That leaves us with France taking the group as winners and progressing. We are going to pick Portugal to finish behind France as group runners up and Germany to finish in third place. All three are expected to qualify for the knockout round, with this being a very tough tournament for Hungary national football team, who couldn’t have faced a tougher task than the one they have.
The most popular market for Euro 2021 from now until it begins is the outright market. There you pick the winner of the championship. Note that you will have to place the bet before the event starts that’s when you will get the best odds. As each contestant is disqualified, your odds will get lower.
Reaching the semi-finals of this prestigious tournament is an excellent achievement. You need to wager on if a team would reach that stage. The odds provided are similar to the outright winner odds, but since there are four places to fill, you have a bigger chance of guessing.
The European Championship begins with a qualifying group stage. You have to wager if a team would qualify past the group stage or not. Popular teams and recent winners are favored in this category.
The goalscorer markets are famous in all football competitions, and it’s the case in the Euros 2021 too. This market is difficult to predict with so much time left before the event starts, but when the time is right, it gets much traffic.
If you want to do something different, you can try betting on some unique markets related to the event. Bookmakers release them sometimes to diversify the usual markets and spice-up the standard markets. There are many different possible markets, and the most popular ones are the following.
A famous market is that many people are anticipating who will have the best performance in the tournament, and predicting who will be crowned the “Player of the Tournament” is a competition that only takes the best performances of the Euro 2021. The prize is considered more prestigious than the Golden Boot.
This market is for betting on the emotional players when it comes to attitude on the field. Getting cards during the game isn’t good, especially if your team depends on you, but some footballers just can’t help themselves. Here you have to predict which player will get the most yellow or red cards during the tournament.
At first, the teams are put into groups that play against each other. This type of bet refers to which of the groups would score the most goals, and it’s settled at the end of the group stage. Coral was one of the bookies that offered this market during the last European Championship, and we expect that many would follow next year as well.
Euro 2021 is a significant championship held every four years, as the World Cup. It determines the champion of Europe. In the years before the event, each country holds tournaments and leagues to decide which teams would qualify for the event. The last winner in 2016 was Portugal. We expect that betting on this event will be huge in all sites because it’s popular, but because of the delay, punters would love to place a bet on it. We explained who and why are the best bookies to choose for betting on the Euro 2021, but don’t think that if you select another established bookmaker, you made the wrong choice. We hope that we have explained everything you need to know about betting on this Euro 2021 event.
Historically, Spain have been regarded as one of top sides on international stage, but they often struggled to live up to the billing. After reaching the semi-finals at the 1950 World Cup, La Furia Roja won the European Championship trophy on home soil in 1964, but little did they know that it would remain their only trophy for another 44 years.
Following some disappointing showings, Spain finally returned to the biggest stage under Vicente Del Bosque, winning three straight trophies between 2008 and 2012, before crashing out in the group stage at the 2014 World Cup. La Furia Roja enjoyed plenty of success with their tiki-taka style of play, originally designed by Barcelona, with Vicente Del Bosque’s side packed with technically skilled players such as Xavi Hernandez, Xabi Alonso, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and David Silva.
Strikers Fernando Torres and David Villa also had a major role to play in those successes, but when it comes to their famous predecessors, the likes of Alfredo Di Stefano, Michel, Emilio Butrageno, Raul Gonzalez, Fernando Morientes and Fernando Hierro should not be forgotten.
